ALFREDO
boa imperator | female
Boa Imperators are typically duller in color, smaller, and more handleable than their red-tailed cousins, the Boa constrictors. They can be found all over Central America and northern South America. Although not the largest of the large, Alfredo is an impressive but approachable beast for those inexperienced with snakes, making her an excellent ambassador.
Fredo’s beginnings weren’t pleasant, as she was kept in too small of a tank and the family who kept her failed to feed her regularly. They eventually gave her to the Reptile and Amphibian Center of the Rockies, an excellent nonprofit and rescue based out of Longmont, CO. With consistent feeding, regular handling and proper care, they nursed her back to a healthy weight and temperament.
All their incredible work made her ready for a forever home with me, where she now lounges and sun bathes in a grand enclosure, always confident when meeting new people and ecstatic to swipe a rat during feeding!
